Admission to St. Nicholas Abbey includes access to the Jacobean Great House, steam-powered sugar mill*, rum distillery, plantation museum, formal gardens, and lush tropical gullies. Visitors may also explore Cherry Tree Hill, a majestic avenue of mahogany trees offering panoramic views of Barbados’ rugged east coast.
Inside the Great House, guests can watch a charming 1935 home movie depicting life on the plantation and learn about the estate’s rich history through the Remembrance Room and museum displays. Adults may enjoy a complimentary rum tasting, while all visitors can relax on the terrace with a refreshing rum or fruit punch.
Guided tours are available from 10:00am to 3:30pm, or visitors may explore at their own pace using a detailed self-guided brochure. Optional rides on the St. Nicholas Abbey Heritage Railway offer a scenic journey through the plantation to Cherry Tree Hill.
*The steam-operated sugar cane press and mill (c.1890) is functional from mid-January to June, offering a fascinating glimpse into traditional sugar cane processing.
