Barbados’s 53-Acre Tropical Garden Escape

Dazzling tropical colours, fragrant flowers, chirping birds, and cool country breezes make Flower Forest a feast for the senses. Spread across 53 acres, the rainforest gardens bloom all year round, offering a serene escape and one of Barbados’s top outdoor experiences.

Originally part of the Richmond sugar cane plantation in the 1800s, the property was transformed into Flower Forest in 1983 by Don Hill, with layouts by Richard Coghlan from Kew Gardens and support from a group of garden enthusiasts.

Meander along shaded walkways lined with diverse botanical collections, from towering palms and rare orchids to vibrant flowering trees. Pause at lookout points to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the distant eastern coastline. The gardens are designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, making them perfect for families, nature lovers, and photographers alike.
