Visiting our Synagogue and Museum
Nidhe Israel Synagogue (the oldest intact synagogue structure in the Western Hemisphere). The Synagogue and its adjacent mikvah, cemetery and museum are in the Synagogue Historic District (old Jewish Quarter).
ACCESSIBILITY
Our Sanctuary, Courtyard and Community Building is are on one level.
The Nidhe Israel Historic District Museum has an access ramp.
Spacious restrooms are also accessible.

THERE IS A MINIMUM DONATION REQUIRED TO ENTER THE HISTORIC SYNAGOGUE SITE
- ADULTS: $12.50 USD / $25.00 BBD
- CHILDREN 5 -12: $6.25 USD / $12.50 BBD
- CHILDREN UNDER 5 - FREE
- GROUPS/PP (of more than 10): $10.00 USD / $20.00 BBD

VACATIONERS AND TEMPORARY RESIDENTS
If you happen to be in Barbados on a Friday evening, please join us for our weekly Kabbalat Shabbat services at 6:30pm (held at the Nidhe Israel synagogue from Hannukah to Pesach). Please contact us in advance if possible.
CRUISE SHIP VISITORS
The Synagogue Historic District is a half-hour walk from the port, or a ten minute taxi ride. It’s okay to just stop by, but if you want a guided tour from a member of the congregation it’s best to book a guided tour.
SELF GUIDED TOURS
If you would like to drop in for a self-guided tour, the Historic Synagogue District is open Monday to Friday, a self-guided tour will take about hour.
If there is a Docent Tour happening when you arrive, you are welcome to join in.
DOCENT GUIDED TOURS FOR GROUPS OF 6 OR MORE
A Volunteer Docent, a member of the Barbados Jewish Community, will meet you at the Nidhe Israel Synagogue Site, the guided tour will take about an hour.
We highly recommend this tour if your time and schedule permits.
GROUP TOURS FOR 6 OR MORE VISITORS
(AND GROUP TOURS DURING CLOSED PERIODS)
Led by a member of the local community.
Group tours last for about an hour and include the restored Nidhe Israel synagogue, the adjacent cemeteries, the recently discovered Mikvah (2007), and the Nidhe Israel Museum. Please contact us to arrange a time suitable for all.
