Barbadian Clay, Handcrafted Creations & Creative Classes

Pots going into kiln
Pottery lesson

Master potter Hamilton Wiltshire, together with his wife, Dale, and their son Ronaldo, carries on the proud Barbadian tradition of pottery making.

Using locally sourced Barbadian clay, they transform it into traditional pots, monkey jars, tableware, vases, and candle shades, all finished with environmentally safe glazes.

Visitors are always welcome to see the artistry and craftsmanship in action.

Ronaldo Wiltshire’s passion for pottery began in his parents’ studio, where he learned the craft from an early age.

By 15, he was actively shaping pieces at his father’s workshop, Indigenous Potteries, developing the skills and artistry that would define his career.

After a decade running Motions of Clay, a community pottery studio in London, Ronaldo has returned to Barbados to join the family business, Hamilton’s Pottery, bringing international experience and fresh inspiration to the island’s rich pottery tradition.

Ronaldo has continued to share his expertise globally, performing wheel demos and giving talks.

In 2020, Ronaldo competed in UK's The Great Pottery Throw Down aired on Channel 4, a transformative experience that pushed his creative limits and connected him with incredible artists.

Ronaldo now runs classes in hand building where you can take home the pieces the same day - no firing required. To find out more, click for classes
