Handcrafted Pottery from Barbadian Red Clay
Master potter Hamilton Wiltshire and his wife Dale work with local red clay to create handcrafted pottery at their countryside studio in St Thomas.
Visitors can watch the full process: clay shaped at the wheel, pieces drying in the tropical air, kilns firing on site, and the intricate hand-finishing and detailed carving that give each piece its character.
Every piece is 100% Barbadian, made from red clay sourced from the Scotland District on the island’s east coast.
Hamilton’s Pottery stands out for its originality and creativity — most notably in the striking La Soufrière glaze series, crafted using volcanic ash collected after the 2021 eruption, transforming a powerful natural event into beautifully finished Barbadian ceramics.
