A grandson's nod to his grandfather
From a young age, the creator of Carringtons Rum Cream, was taught the importance of the hard work it takes to break cyclical poverty, which was pervasive in the low-income neighbourhood of Carringtons Village in which he grew up. Naturally, entrepreneurship formed part of this teaching.
Aged 18, just as he was of the age to properly pursue the avenues of entrepreneurship, Tyrque Wilson, founded Carringtons Rum Cream. Honouring his grandfather, Hurlstone “Harold” Wilson (left), he developed the brand based off his grandfather’s recipe and named it after his childhood neighborhood, Carrington Village.
Launched late in 2020, coming on the back of Covid and supported by the Barbados Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES), this was not only a means of earning a living, but it was equally a way of respecting and recognizing his heritage, using the recipe his grandfather developed.
In the years since, Carringtons has become not only a product, but a people. A homegrown recipe transcending generations, Carringtons Rum Cream represents a stellar blend of spices and ingredients indigenous to the Caribbean region.
Carringtons Rum Cream has grown beyond the original recipe and is available in different flavours; Original Rum Cream, Chocolate Butterscotch, and Coconut, and both full and half bottle sizes.
