Royal Barbados Cigars

Royal Barbados Caribbean Cigar Company has been making cigars by hand in Pelican Village, Bridgetown, since 1987. Owner Angelika Marshall, whose late husband Rudolph came from a German cigar-making family, has run it for more than thirty years. It is the only handmade cigar factory in Barbados.

The visit is free and walk-ins are welcome. A small team of women work the floor, rolling, pressing, and wrapping every cigar on site, and welcome questions from visitors. The tobacco is long filler from Nicaragua, the wrappers come from Ecuador, and the Cuban molds they press the cigars in overnight are estimated to be over a century old.
