Handcrafted Mahogany Root Pieces & Tours
Self-taught sculptor Reggie Medford has been carving mahogany for over 50 years at his studio in St Michael. The youngest recipient of the Barbados Centennial Honor, Medford specializes in sculptures made from Barbados mahogany roots, using a sanding technique he developed himself.
The studio offers a guided tour through the full production process, from raw roots on the ground to finished sculptural and functional pieces.
The range includes bookends, clocks, napkin holders, picture frames, vases, and abstract sculptural work.
Pieces are also available at select stores across the island, including Ganzee and Handmade in Barbados.
